2022 NFT

Whilst the year 2022 continued to see eye-watering trades for Punks and Apes, the most notable event was The Merge, which took place in September. This transition fundamentally changes the way Ethereum validates sales (NFTs or otherwise) as it no longer uses the Proof-of-Work (PoW) system. With Proof-of-Stake, there are no more blocks, and we also have to say goodbye to the humble nonce!

This artwork showcases and celebrates the highest NFT transactions on Ethereum Mainnet in each month of 2022 where PoW was in action, plus a special edition for September to celebrate The Merge. The blockchain metadata behind these transactions, combined with Crypto Noncense's unique algorithm, have generated some extremely colorful artworks this year.
